Lina Srivastava A graduate of the New York University School of Law and a former practicing attorney, Lina has a long history of working towards human and women's rights through arts and the media. She has volunteered her time with the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival and was a member of the Organizing Committee for the Charles Horman Truth Project 2002 Human Rights Award, an award presented to artists who created a work carrying a strong human rights message. As a former staff member of Rattapallax Press, a publisher that runs a program entitled Dialogue Through Poetry to promote building a culture of peace and non-violence in the world through poetry, Lina served as co-editor of the 2001 and 2002 versions of the Dialogue Through Poetry anthology. She has also consulted with the Director of Women's Leadership at Manhattanville College on the formation of a network and educational curriculum promoting leadership among young women from universities in Latin America, Africa and Europe. Prior to Kids with Cameras, Lina was the CEO of the Kalitala Foundation's office in the United States. She is currently a member of a member of the Advisory Council of Asha for Education, which works to promote education and literacy for poor children in India, and a member of the Alumnae Association Council of the Emma Willard School, a secondary school for young women that stresses a feminist education. Additionally, Lina currently volunteers time to the CIPPEC, Inc., an organization devoted to transparency and social justice reform in Argentina. |
